Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about potty training, illness, allergies, tuition, weather delays, and tours.
Does my child need to be potty trained to attend CEP?
Potty training is required only in the 4-year-old classrooms. The remaining classes, for children 3 years old and younger, do not require children to be potty trained. Each classroom has a bathroom with a child-sized toilet and sink.
What is your sickness policy?
Children must be fever-free without medication and free of vomiting or diarrhea for at least 24 hours before returning to CEP. If a child develops symptoms while at school, the child will stay with the director and parents will be notified to pick up the child. Please use the ProCare app or call 703-569-3033 to notify CEP if your child will be absent. All students must complete a health form and have current vaccinations upon enrollment.
My child has allergies. Will my child be safe at CEP?
CEP is a nut-free school and will work with parents to accommodate other childhood allergies to the best of our ability. All staff are CPR and First Aid certified, and there is always at least one staff member present who is certified in Medication Administration Training.
When is tuition due and how do I pay?
Tuition is due on the first of each month, September through April, and no later than the 10th. Payments can be made by cash or check and dropped off in the CEP red tuition box, or paid online through the ProCare app by credit/debit card or bank transfer. Online processing fees may apply.
Is there a late fee if tuition is not paid by the due date?
CEP charges a $10 late fee for payments made after the 10th of the month. A late pickup fee may also apply. Please see the CEP Parent Handbook for details.
Does CEP close for Fairfax County Public Schools teacher workdays and holidays?
Not always. CEP follows the FCPS calendar for major breaks such as Fall Break, Thanksgiving, Winter Break, and Spring Break, but remains open on many teacher workdays and religious observances. A detailed calendar is distributed at the beginning of each school year.
What is CEP's inclement weather policy?
When FCPS announces either a 1-hour or 2-hour delay, CEP opens one hour late at 11:00 AM with no Before Care. If FCPS is closed for the entire day, CEP is closed. If FCPS closes early, CEP also closes early with no After Care. Parents are notified through the ProCare app and email of any closures.
Can I visit the school and see the classrooms?
Yes. CEP welcomes tours of the facility. Please email cepdirector@messiahumc.org or call 703-569-3033 to schedule a tour.
